There are several options open to you when you decide on the layout of your WordPress and Thesis home page. This article covers some of those options.
Using a WordPress Page on the Home Page
In WordPress as you know, there are posts and pages. You can create a page and use it to be your home page content. Normally you would do this if you wanted to create a home page that doesn’t change. Whenever anyone visits the site, they’ll always see the same information on the main content area of the home page. You do this by selecting the static page option from the WordPress dashboard under Settings/ Reading

Using Posts on the Home Page
If you decide to have changing content, using posts is a good way of achieving it. As you write a new post, the home page will automatically update to reflect your latest update. You achieve this by setting up posts instead of a static page within WordPress Settings. Further, in Thesis you can decide on how many home page posts will be teasers.
Click for More To Shorten Featured Posts
You can break a featured post at any point and only display a small amount of it (how much exactly is up to you), by using the MORE tag.
Thumbnail Images in Teasers
This can be achieved in two ways – either automatically, based on a post image (assuming you only have one image), or manually by specifying the post images and creating a thumbnail yourself. For automatic thumbnail generation to work though, you must host your post images in the media library. I never use the media library so auto thumbnail generation is not an option for me. However I do cover this and everything else mentioned in this post, in the video, step by step.
